Cutler, Amos
b. January 3, 1812, in Charlestown, Massachusetts; d. January 1, 1880, in Rock Island, Illinois. On November 10, 1835, Cutler
married Mahala Hill, and they had eight children. In 1844, he moved to Rock Island, Illinois, where he
manufactured harnesses, saddles, and trunks. Cutler was also a school director, county commissioner, and alderman. In 1849,
he
joined the gold rush to California, but returned to Rock Island in 1850. From 1864 until his death, he sold real estate. Cutler
was a lifelong Democrat.
